A man has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to using an unlicensed weapon, causing voluntary damage, being drunk in public and breaching public peace.

The 38-year-old Serb shopowner living in Qawra was arrested on Sunday at 4am and arraigned in court on Monday.

Superintendent Mario Haber said that the man was arrested after he allegedly fired shots into the air and later at parked cars. Haber added that the man gave different details to the court, as he explained that he would be verifying the man’s passport and possibly filing more charges if it emerges that it was falsified.

The man pleaded guilty to the charges. The court will sentence the accused on 1 August.
