Malta: New COVID-19 case in Malta, six persons recovered

Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci stated that during 1,247 swab tests carried out in the past 24 hours, only one case resulted positive.

She said that another six persons recovered from the virus, bringing the number of cured persons to 491, aged between 20 and 59.

The new case is that of a 71-year old Maltese man who was at Mount Carmel hospital and was still in quarantine when he developed respiratory disease. The man was admitted at Mater Dei due to respiratory problems and resulted positive to the virus. He was transferred to a specific ward treating Covid-19 cases. Contact tracing is ongoing on this case with testing of patients and medical staff who were in contact with the man.
