Malta Public Transport announces special services for Science in the City

Malta Public Transport will operate a special bus service during the Science in the City festival, taking place this Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2026 at Triton Square. The additional services will give visitors more transport options to and from Valletta, making it easier and more convenient to attend the event.

Science in the City is Malta’s national science and arts festival, attracting thousands of visitors to the capital to experience exhibitions, interactive activities and live performances. Malta Public Transport is supporting the event by providing additional late-night connections to various parts of the island.

Additional services will operate on both Friday and Saturday, providing late evening connections from Valletta to a wide range of localities. These include St Julian’s, Sliema, Gżira and Msida, as well as Birkirkara, Lija, Mosta, Buġibba, Rabat, Dingli, Ħamrun, Siġġiewi, Luqa, Żurrieq, Paola, Żejtun and Birżebbuġa.

The popular N13 route to Sliema and St Julian’s will be served every five to ten minutes on both evenings, with the last trip departing Valletta at 2.10am. Three extra services to Buġibba will also be operating following the event to meet extra demand to the seaside destination.

The special services will operate alongside a number of regular Night Routes, providing further options for passengers travelling to and from the festival.

The special services will be free of charge for passengers travelling with a personalised Tallinja Card. Other passengers can purchase a €3 ticket directly on board, with both cash and contactless payments accepted.
