The monthly unemployment rate for March rose by 0.1 percentage points from February to reach 3.5 percent, according to National Statistics Office figures. The rate, however, is lower compared to same period in 2019 which stood at 3.6 percent.
This means that adjusted seasonal rate returned to the April 2019 levels as the number of unemployed people stood at 9,433.
The results show a 0.4 rise in the youth unemployment rate among people aged 15 to 24 – the highest rate in twelve months. The monthly rate of unemployment among the 25 to 74 age group increased by 0.1 percentage point from February to reach 2.6 percent.
Unemployment among females reached 4.1 percent, up by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, while the rate for males dropped by 0.1 points to settle at 3.1 percent.
