Meloni Lands Coveted Time Cover Spotlight

Premier Giorgia Meloni has appeared on the cover of Time magazine, with the influential biweekly dedicating the lead article of its latest edition to her.

Authored by Massimo Calabresi, the piece is based on an interview conducted on July 4 and is titled “Where Giorgia Meloni Is Leading Europe.” It highlights how the Italian premier has, in many respects, defied early expectations.

“At home, she has moderated some of her more dramatic campaign pledges—such as the proposal to impose a naval blockade to prevent the arrival of illegal immigrants by sea,” the article notes.

“On the international stage, Meloni has presented herself less as a right-wing firebrand and more as a pragmatic conservative.

“She has endorsed the European Union, NATO, and support for Ukraine; taken a firm stance on limiting Chinese influence; and has worked with measured intent to mend transatlantic relations in the early stages of President Donald Trump’s second term.

“In doing so, she has garnered the respect of leaders across the political spectrum, from President Joe Biden to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.”
