A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the northern coast of Crete on Monday morning, according to a preliminary reading of the Athens Geodynamic Institute.
According to the Geodynamics Institute of Athens National Observatory, the quake’s epicenter was located 296 kmsoutheast of Athens in the region of the sea between Crete and Santorini.
The quake was felt on the eastern part of the island and Iraklio, but no reports of injuries or damages were immediately reported.
Greek officials emphasized that there is no reason for concern over the quake that shook the Aegean Sea.
