Mosques in Birmingham the target of vandal attacks

Four mosques in Birmingham were attacked overnight and had their windows smashed with a sledgehammer.

A mosque in Birchfield Road, another in Slade Road, Erdington, and in Witton Road, Aston, and on Broadway in Perry Barr were the target of the attack and police have now opened an investigation.

Patrols were stepped up across the city and no arrests have been made so far.

West Midlands Police said forensic teams were at the scenes to collect evidence and officers were examining CCTV in the areas.
