New affordable housing scheme launched: The Headlines – It-Torċa

It-Torċa says that the Housing Authority is developing a social housing project in Fgura for people who do not qualify for free accommodation but cannot afford commercial rental rates. The 118 new apartments will be leased at €300 a month.

Another story announces that the government will allocate over €170 million to services for the elderly and people with disabilities this year. Parliamentary Secretary Anthony Agius Decelis said that the figure represents a record-breaking investment.

The paper carries an interview with Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi who said that the Labour government is committed to ‘progressive policies’ that improve the lives of citizens. Mizzi says that the government will now focus on areas such as the environment, health and justice.
