New controversy as Salvini refuses to let Italian Navy ship with migrants dock

Italian Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Thursday that he will refuse to assign a port for a Navy ship to dock in after it rescued dozens of migrants in waters off Libya.

Salvini is insisting that the ship picked up the migrants in Libyan waters and therefore it should dock in a Libyan port. He also pointed out that on Wednesday a Libyan coast guard patrol saved over 200 migrants and took them back.

Salvini also complained about the lack of coordination on the issue within the same Italian government and insisted that the situation needs to be clarified.
