It’s been 25 years ago but new facts emerge on the attack against Italian TV presenter Maurizio Costanzo. The new revelations relate to a photo that there was also Matteo Messina Denaro with Giuseppe Graviano at the Maurizio Costanzo Show to spy on the behaviour and moves of Canale 5 TV presenter. This took place a year before the attack on May 14, 1993 to the Mediaset host and then to the girlfriend Maria De Filippi.
This took place in 1992 when the two Mafia bosses infiltrated the audience of the broadcast to study the atmosphere in the studio.
The preparation of the attack on Costanzo dated more than a year before. Totò Riina had decided to hit the television host after some transmissions dedicated to the mafia. Riina had not particularly liked an interview with the wife of a Madonia clan boss. In September 1991, Costanzo had also made a transmission to unified networks together with Michele Santoro to commemorate the entrepreneur Libero Grassi , killed by the mafia after going on TV to say that he would never pay the lace. For the first time, Rai and Fininvest cooperated with an anti-mafia relay. Guest at the Teatro Parioli del Costanzo Show, there was also the judge Giovanni Falcone .
Maurizio Costanzo and Maria De Filippi were saved because the killers were betrayed by a change of car: the usual driver, who used an Alfa Romeo 164 , that night was bad and asked the change to a colleague who used the Mercedes . The moment of hesitation of the mafia was vital, in the literal sense.
Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano reveals that this photo now is among the official documents of the investigations on Graviano.
