Various national security agencies in Europe and further afar have opened investigations into reports 28-year-old Australian Brenton Harrison Tarrant’s might have visited their country.
As details emerge over the suspect charged for the massacre at two mosques in New Zealand, various countries have launched a probe into 28-year-old Brenton Harrison Tarrant’s possible visits.
Tarrant, an Australian national, wrote in a 74-page manifesto circulated online that he travelled to France, Spain, and Portugal in 2017.
Several other countries also checked their records to see if he had embarked on other journeys.
Bulgarian investigators revealed that in 2016, that apart from Bulgaria, he also visited Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia. Investigators are now working to determine if Tarrant had any ties with Bulgarians.
Tarrant returned once more to the region in November 2018 to visit historic sites of Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.
He also visited Turkey several times and Turkish investigators are trying to piece together his stay in the country.
Tarrant’s suspended Facebook page also showed a post from Pakistan in 2018 and photo from a visit to North Korea.
