The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the world’s largest children’s museum, has removed three Michael Jackson items from its exhibits after a documentary renewed allegations of child sexual abuse against the late singer.
The museum is the latest organisation to reassess its links with the pop star following the release of HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, which featured accounts from two men who say Jackson groomed them for sex and molested them when they were young.
The items removed are Jackson’s iconic fedora and white glove and a signed poster.
The new documentary unveiled at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which tells the stories of two men who claim they were sexually molested by the pop star as young boys. Many Jackson fans do not believe the allegations, and the film immediately stirred up controversy.
The documentary prompted some radio stations in Canada and the Netherlands to stop playing Jackson’s music whilst French fashion house Louis Vuitton pulled Michael Jackson-themed items from its 2019 summer menswear collection.
