The Italian Cup second leg between Juventus and AC Milan will take place as scheduled, however no spectators from the Lombardy region will be allowed in the Allianz stadium.
AC Milan hail from the Lombardy region. Apart from Lombardy, the game won’t be able to be attended by fans from Veneto and Emilia Romagna.
The decision was confirmed by the Italian Lega and follows controversy about the decisions taken on Friday to postpone matches scheduled for this weekend, and which were at one moment going to be organised behind closed doors. These matches, including Inter vs Juventus match are meant to be played on May 13th.
However, the recent controversy sparked after this decision has forced the Italian league organiser to consider the possibility to play the matches during the week.
These decisions reflect the controversy and difficulty to take the actions required to contain the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy, Europe’s hotspot for the Co-Vid19. 1,577 people are currently positive for coronavirus throughout Italy. The head of the Civil Protection Angelo Borrelli said it in the latest report on the disease, specifying that so far there are 34 deaths (five in the last 24 hours) while the recovered are 83. Since the beginning of the emergency, there have been 1,694 infected.
