Over 100 priests have died in Italy due to Coronavirus pandemic

Over 100 priests have died in Italy with the coronavirus, the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) said Friday.

“They have offered up their lives, expressing once again the beautiful face of the Church,” it said.

The CEI Permanent Council, meeting by videoconference, recalled the role of priests in this moment of emergency and thanked them “for being close to the people: many – more than 100 – offered their lives once again expressing their faces beautiful of the friendly Church, which takes care of others. Caress, for all, is an exhortation to prayer, a true antidote to this time “.

“The shadow of death seemed to have extended over our country, but it did not have the last word”, underlined the bishops.
