Pope Francis and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen voiced a common commitment to seeking an end to the Ukraine was when the EC chief was received at an audience in the Vatican Friday, the Holy See said.
Von der Leyen also spoke to Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Secretary for Relations with States Msgr Paul Gallagher, the Vatican press office said.
“During the course of the cordial talks in the Secretariat of State,” the Holy See said, “they discussed good bilateral relations and the common commitment to work towards putting an end to the war in Ukraine, devoting special attention on the humanitarian aspects and the food consequences of a protracted conflicted,” said the Holy See.
