Protest by Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and feminist associations in defense of the family on the occasion of ‘Wish for a Baby’, the event dedicated to fertility, in Milan, Italy, 20 May 2023.
The Wish for a Baby fertility fair, the first of its kind in Italy, kicked off amidst protests this morning in Milan, sparking bipartisan political controversy over whether the event could promote surrogacy which is prohibited by law.
A few meters from the entrance to the fair, which takes place in a private space in via Mecenate on the outskirts of the city, Lega, Fratelli d’Italia, feminist associations and associations in defense of the family are protesting against the event with placards such as ‘Children they cannot be bought’ and ‘Women are not wombs to be rented’.
