Candles are lit at the scene of the 2010 Love Parade disaster at the memorial site at the Karl Lehr Tunnel in Duisburg, Germany, on the night of the 23rd July 2019, on the occasion of the ‘Night of 1,000 Lights’.
This was the commemoration event, for the ninth anniversary of the Love Parade electronic music festival accident.
A total of 21 people were killed and more than 500 injured on 24 July 2010 when a mass panic broke out among ravers in an overcrowded tunnel and underpass leading to the only entrance to the Love Parade area.
