Police treating the discovery of a lifeless newborn in Rome’s Tiber as a murder

A lifeless body of a newborn was found in the river Tiber, near the Mezzocamino bridge.

From an initial external examination of the body of the newborn found dead this afternoon in the Tiber it is assumed that the death can date back to at most one or two days ago. The baby was born alive.

An autopsy has been ordered to establish the cause. Police investigating the case are treating it as a murder.
