Pope announces opening of secret archives of pontiff Pius XII

Pope Francis announced that he has decided to open the Vatican’s secret archives concerning wartime pontificate of Pope Pius XII (photo above), who reigned from 1939 to 1958.

A step which Jews have been pressuring the Vatican to do for decades.

Some Jews believe Pope Pius turned a blind eye to the Holocaust by not speaking out forcefully about it.

Pope Francis Monday announced that the archives will open on March 2, 2020.
