Pope appeals for good politics, says enough scandals, corruption

Pope Francis prayed for political leaders to be at the service of their own people in his monthly prayer intentions for August in a video released on Tuesday by the pontiff’s worldwide prayer network.
“Let us pray that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and the common good, taking care of those who have lost their jobs and giving priority to the poor”, he said.
“Today politics doesn’t have a good reputation: corruption, scandals, far removed from people’s everyday lives”, the pontiff said in Spanish in the video.
“But can we progress towards universal fraternity without good politics? No”, the pontiff concluded.
