President Trump: ‘I am the chosen one’

Telling reporters, he is the first US president to take on China over trade, Donald Trump looks up to the sky and strikes a man-of-destiny tone he was “the chosen one” to address trade imbalances with China.

Comments that caused quite a stir in the background of the controversy on his wish to acquire Greenland.

Trump told reporters his life would be easier if he had not mounted a trade war with China. But he defended his actions and said he believed a trade deal between the world’s largest economies was still possible.

“I am the chosen one … so I am taking on China. I’m taking on China on trade. And you know what? We’re winning,” Trump said, claiming a title often used to refer to religious figures such Jesus and Mohammed.

The president’s comments caused critics on social media to suggest he has a “God complex” or “messiah complex”.

This was further aggravated for some critics when he tweeted out the claim that Israeli Jews view him as the “second coming of God.”

Wednesday morning, Trump quoted conservative radio host and known conspiracy theorist Wayne Allyn Root, who practically declared the president the Messiah during his show Tuesday night.

Quoting Root’s tweet, Trump shared the message that he is “the greatest President for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world,” that “the Jewish people in Israel love him like he’s the King of Israel” and even that “They love him like he is the second coming of God.”

Earlier this week, Mr Trump claimed Jewish people who vote for Democrats are “very disloyal” to Israel.

It prompted claims the president had invoked an anti-Semitic trope of dual loyalty amongst Jewish people.
