The Duke of Cambridge, has reportedly declared he wishes to “do his bit” to help with the outbreak of coronavirus currently affecting the UK, by returning to his old job as helicopter pilot with the air ambulance. The Prince had worked as part of a team of flying medics for two years back in 2015, an an emergency air ambulance pilot.

However, his current duties as a senior member of the Royal Family might prevail over his personal wishes, as his father recovers after being diagnosed with Covid-19 while other family members have stepped back from their public roles.

According to a source, “He knows the whole country is doing its bit and he wants to help. […] But it’s complicated as he was originally grounded from the job so that he could become a senior working royal.” No statement was issued by Buckingham Palace on this subject.

Currently around 1,000 new patients are being admitted to hospitals daily all over the United Kingdom, with some 9,000 Covid-19 patients currently being treated in various hospitals around England. This number has increased by around 3,000 cases over the weekend.

Prince William worked as a pilot with the air ambulance service in East Anglia between 2015 and 2017, carrying out dozens of call-outs during this 2 year period before taking up his role as a senior member of the Royal Family.
