Rain helps control enormous wildfires in Lebanon

A tree burns in Mechref south Beirut, Lebanon. Massive wildfires spread across Lebanon this week, before moderate rains in the evening of Tuesday brought them under control in most affected areas.

With more than 100 blazes erupting from north to south over the past two days

According to reports, 18 Lebanese people were admitted to hospitals for treatment following multiple wildfires that began early on 14 October in Mechref, Dibbiyeh and Al Damour areas at Chouf District in Mount Lebanon.

Lebanese Army helicopters and planes provided by Cyprus are fighting the fires as the fire entered residential areas. Five Civil Defense firefighters have sustained injuries during their duty.
