Rescue vessel with 64 persons on board heading to Malta’s waters

Alan Kurdi, the humanitarian vessel with 64 migrants on board is heading to Malta after it was rebuffed by Italy in what appears to be another migrant saga in the making.

The Times of Malta reports that that the ship will need weather protection, drinking water and possibly food at the weekend, the NGO Sea-Eye said in a statement.

TVM reports that the decision to come to Malta was also led by the fact that Italian interior Minister Matteo Salvini wanted to separate children from their families.

The German NGO Sea Eye criticised Matteo Salvini for ‘the humiliation’ of the migrants and for how he’s abusing everything possible to take what it calls ‘maximum advantage’ from the situation.

This is a developing story
