The cruise ship Oasis of the Seas is headed for a shipyard in Cádiz, Spain for repairs after suffering damage in a drydock accident at Grand Bahama Shipyard.
A crane has collapsed onto one the world’s biggest cruise ships injuring eight people in the Bahamas.
The Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas was at the dockyard for routine maintenance work when it was struck, company officials said.
The injured were reportedly employees on the dry dock. All were said to be in stable condition.
There were no guests on the ship, which was scheduled for a trip to Florida this week to pick up passengers at a port in Orlando. It was not clear whether it would still be able to set sail.
Royal Caribbean has canceled three sailings on Oasis of the Seas.
“Guests on the three sailings will receive full refunds, as well as full credit toward a future cruise,” the cruise line said. “We are sorry for the disruption to their vacation plans.”
The Oasis of the Seas will resume its scheduled itineraries beginning with the May 5 sailing from Barcelona.
