Russia denies reports of hundreds of Wagner Group fighters in Libya

The Libya Observer reports that the Russian Embassy in Libya has denied recent reports alleging that hundreds of Wagner fighters have arrived in Libya. It described the information as baseless and lacking factual data.

In a statement, the embassy criticized the “Arabic Post” newspaper for promoting the narrative of a Russian threat in Libya without providing “convincing evidence.” The reports are speculations and statements that do not correspond to reality, the embassy added.

Arabic Post had reported that 1,800 Russian soldiers arrived in the eastern region, documented with maps and photos of their deployment locations as a prelude to establishing the African Corps.
