Salvini investigated for use of police aircraft

The former Italian deputy prime minister and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini is under investigation for abuse of office by the Rome prosecutor.

The accusation refers to 35 State flights already considered illegitimate by the Court of Auditors but archived.

The flights were for a combination of many Ministerial meetings of Salvini around Italy with rallies or other party events in the same area with aircraft supplied to the Italian police or fire brigade. The use of those aircraft was considered illegal by the legal authorities because the police and fire brigades are reserved for the performance of institutional duties.
