Sarah’s Trust to Shutdown following Epstein Leaks

Sarah Ferguson’s charity, Sarah’s Trust, will close “for the foreseeable future.” This decision follows renewed scrutiny over the former Duchess of York’s connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The decision comes after months of internal discussions, according to a foundation spokesperson.

The closure follows the recent release of more than three million documents by the US Department of Justice. These documents include emails. The emails suggest Ferguson was in contact with Epstein. Epstein was serving a prison sentence for soliciting sex from a minor at that time. The BBC has reached out to Ferguson for comment. It is important to note that being named in the Epstein files does not constitute evidence of wrongdoing.

Founded in 2020, Sarah’s Trust aimed to support grassroots efforts addressing humanitarian and environmental crises, as well as extreme poverty. The foundation has not provided further details on the reasons for its closure.

Previous revelations about Ferguson’s ties to Epstein led to her removal as patron or ambassador from several charities last year. The charities include Julia’s House, the Teenage Cancer Trust, and the British Heart Foundation.

The latest batch of files also included images of Ferguson’s ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, in compromising situations. Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Newly released emails show Ferguson referring to Epstein as “the brother I have always wished for.” She was also seeking his advice on her business ventures.
