The baby that was found abandoned on the doorstep of a block of apartments in Buġibba has been given the name Cristiano. It was at about 4pm that the baby was found abandoned and asleep and still carrying an umbilical cord. Police were on the spot and conveyed the newly-born baby to hospital. The Emergency Department established Cristiano was born at about 12 noon. As the spot where he was found there were no signs of blood, this is an indication he was born somewhere else and then placed there. Health Centres and private clinics have been alerted in case the mother requests medical assistance there. – TVM

Malta’s News Front Pages
In-Nazzjon leads with the story about the new-born found in Buġibba, giving details on the news which dominated headlines yesterday. L-Orizzont also covers the story saying that rather than ‘judging’ one should help.
The Independent leads with the situation in Libya and migration. It says that there’s an increase in the presence of ISIS in Libya and also quotes an NGO which is stating that Malta is abandoning migrants. This is also dealt with by The Times which said that the rescue plane has stopped flying since May.
The Times leads with a story that new motorists should be given First Aid training.
In another story, The Times reports about the summit held between Iran, Turkey and Russia on Syria.
In-Nazzjon reports that Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia was reported saying that Independence Day should be Malta’s only national day.
L-Orizzont reports that Minister for Economy Chris Cardona hailed the positive economic results Malta is attaining, as confirmed by Eurostat.
In another story on L-Orizzont, we read that Malta’s Tourism numbers registered another increase during July. In fact tourism between January and July, the report says, increased by 16.9%.
