Sea-Watch captain Carola Rackete hearing at EU parliament

Carola Rackete, German captain of rescue vessel Sea-Watch 3, addresses a European Parliament Committee’s public hearing on the situation of Search and Rescue in the Mediterranean in view of latest developments and the legal framework in Brussels, Belgium.

Rackete was arrested on 29 June reportedly after violating orders from the Italian Finance Police and entering the port of Lampedusa while ramming a patrol boat on migrant rescue ship ‘Sea-Watch 3’.
