Sea Watch Captain released – Salvini reacts and states he’ll make sure she’s sent back to her country

An Italian judge has ordered the release of the German captain of a migrant rescue ship who had been placed under house arrest for breaking an Italian naval blockade.

Carola Rackete was arrested after forcing her way into the Sicilian port of Lampedusa carrying 40 migrants and refugees she had rescued off Libya.

The decision was taken by the court in Agrigento.

Judge Alessandra Vella ruled that Rackete had been carrying out her duty to protect life and had not committed any act of violence.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Interior Matteo Salvini was infuriated by the decision taken by the court.

He declared that he will see that the ‘criminal captain’ is sent back to her country. In his declaration he referred to how her action endangered the life of the GdF at the harbour in Lampedusa.
