At least 24 dead in arson attack on Japanese animation studio

At least 24 persons died and dozens more have been injured in a fire at an animation studio in the Japanese city of Kyoto.

Police say the blaze broke out  after a man burst into Kyoto Animation and spread an as yet unidentified liquid that set off the fire.

Fire department officials said more than 70 people were in the three-storey building at the time. Some 30 people still remain unaccounted for, broadcaster NHK reported.

The man believed to have set the fire, apparently in his 40s, was among the injured and has been taken to a hospital.
