Shock and dismay as London witnesses the third victim of violent attacks in under 24 hours

A man in his thirties has died following a stabbing on a street in Tower Hamlets – the third fatality from violent attacks across London in the space of just 24 hours.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service to reports of an injured man at Alton Street just before 2pm (local time) on Saturday.

The victim, who had suffered knife injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2.37pm. A crime scene has been established at the scene and Metropolitan Police officers are investigating.

The stabbing follows the arrests of ten people after two teenagers were killed in a stabbing and shooting which happened 12 minutes apart in different parts of London on Friday.

The mayor of London Sadiq Khan tweeted he was “sickened” after the attacks, which are not thought to be connected.

Mr Khan appealed to the public to help police with their investigations into the deaths.

At 4:42pm on Friday, police were called to Deeside Road in Wandsworth, south London, following reports of a stabbing.
