Shortage of Christmas trees in the U.S.

According to the National Christmas Tree Association there is a shortage of trees that has caused prices to rise in 2019.

The root of the problem go back about 10 years to the latest recession when farmers reduced their plantings in an attempt to cut costs as demand dropped.

With a 10-year growth period for trees to reach optimal height, the effects are now being felt.
