Sicily Earthquake – 28 injured, 370 displaced

About ten families were evacuated last night from their homes in Aci Platani, a hamlet of Acireale, due to the presence of a fault on the street where their houses are located, which in the course of the day had widened causing a fracture in the asphalt. The event is connected with the seismic and eruptive activity of Etna. The earthquake is 28 injured and about 370 displaced.

“The injured situation is calm, we have no serious injuries, ten were taken to the hospital, 18 went with their own means to the hospitals, then there is an 80-year-old who has had the crush syndrome”. This was stated by the head of civil protection Angelo Borrelli, speaking at the “Radio anch’io” broadcast on RadioUno. “There are 28 injured and 370 people displaced, we have had 1,600 requests for inspections by the population,” he said, “We hosted about 370 people this night, 323 in the 45 hotels in the gyms and 37 in an older facility”.
