Five defeats in their last six Premier League games have left Liverpool manager Arne Slot dismissing any discussion of a title challenge.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City handed Liverpool a crushing 3–0 loss, deepening the Reds’ slump and pushing them down to eighth place in the league table. After the match, Slot offered a frank reflection on his team’s current situation.
“The last thing I should speak about now is the title race,” Slot said. “We should first focus on getting results—sresult after result after result—before we can even think about that and the reality is that we are eighth now.
“The last thing we should focus on is the title race, which is something we could do last season but also not the previous two seasons before. But we need to improve and that’s obvious.”
