The PN Leader, Adrian Delia, said the government tried to clamp down on teachers, but these faced up to him and stood up for their and their students’ rights.Dr Delia questioned why Government does not care about teachers, who are the country’s guardians for the future. Dr Delia stated that in recent days the European Commission has released a formal opinion to chastise Minister Edward Scicluna, adding that Scicluna became the first Minister in Europe to be chastised in this manner. Delia added that Government still showed no shame, as these issues were of no consequence, but the finance industry and the country are suffering because these issues stain Malta’s reputation. Speaking during a political activity, Dr Delia asked whether teachers would be imported from foreign countries, just as it had sought foreigners to drive buses in Malta. “Is this how our children will end up?”, he asked.

Sources close to the government told Malta Independent the Mount Carmel Hospital nursing aide who was interned as a patient at the hospital following an alleged argument with a superior has been transferred to another hospital until a report by the Mental Health Commissioner is completed. Eight NGOs and Pembroke, St.Julian’s and Swieqi local councils have started a fundraising campaign to finance the legal action that they will take against the db Group project which had been approved for development of the former ITS site in Pembroke. Through a press release the organisations said that the legal actions will include but are not limited to an appeal in front of the Environment and Planning Review Tribunal (EPRT). All the NGOs and local councils involved will be contributing towards part of the legal expenses however it is not enough. The goal of the fund-raising campaign is to collect €15,000.Newsbook
