All portals lead with the story regards the tragic traffic accident which saw motorcyclist Chris Marlin die last night. Various reports consistent with the story of the accident in Tarxien also share the tribute given by Express Trailers, the company where he used to work for and also the reference to a facebook post Marlin did last Thursday, where somehow he apologised to those who worry about his well being, because of his motorcycling.

At a political activity in Hamrun, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat made mention of tomorrow’s budget and said that it would yet again be a positive one thanks to the investments that took place throughout the years of the labour administration. “A situation of autopilot does not exist in economy,” he said, “so we need to keep inviting investments, generate more and more work,” he said.

The PN has ended up having to go abroad to defend Malta’s reputation as a country, PN leader Adrian Delia said in his customary Sunday address at a political activity in Mqabba. Delia said that the PN does not take pleasure in the damage that is being done to the country by the practices of the current government.  He made mention of several international reports, such as the recent decision by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to blacklist Malta over its sale of passports, and another report which quoted Malta as being “a magnet for corruption and money laundering”.

A tour operator who claims he was the victim of a frame-up by the Central Bank of Malta in the late 1980s has filed a claim for compensation amounting to about €3 million. Lawrence Borg, 69, claims he incurred substantial damages because of the Central Bank’s refusal to allow him to use the Forward Buying Rate Scheme it was operating between 1988 and 1996.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna said that Maltese missionaries leave a mark with results of their efforts throughout the various missionary communities around the globe. He said this in his message for World Mission Day which is being celebrated in October this year during the Bishops’ Synod in the Vatican. In the Synod, bishops from around the world are praying and discussing issues relating to young people, the Faith and vocational discernment with Pope Francis.
