Reading Time: 2 minutesThe 43 participating delegations of this year’s edition of the Eurovision, on Sunday were engaged in the Blue Carpet event at the MAAT in Lisbon, and in the official opening ceremony. The Opening Ceremony event, apart from welcoming the delegations to the official 2018 Eurovision Song Contest host city of Lisbon, also marks the start of the Eurovision week.
Malta’s participant, Christabelle wore a red gown tonight, designed by Charles & Ron, as part of their Winter 18/19 Palazzo collection. The appliqué the top is hand beaded Maltese door knockers and skirt is layers of soft tulle. The gown is made-to-measure for her, and you can see this in how it fits. This lower neckline is far more flattering on Christabelle than the polo necks she wears on stage.
Rehearsals and Odds
On Sunday, the first and second rehearsals were over too, and after all songs took part in the rehearsals those who follow the festival with passion were looking at the odds for this year’s event.
Semifinal one qualification odds
Cyprus is clearly attracting a lot of attention in these markets, mirroring the odds to win. Eleni is back into second most likely qualifier behind Israel. At the other end, Belgium is looking a lot less secure, slipping two places down to a dangerous tenth. Exactly the opposite happens for Lithuania, looking a little more likely as a finalist.
Semifinal two qualification odds
Australia slips slightly behind Moldova into the fifth safest qualification position in the odds. This continues a disappointing slide for antipodean hopes, after “We Got Love” started off a strong favourite before rehearsals. Australia currently sits at 13th favourite to win, after spending some time in the top five. Netherlands slips down slightly into eighth, while Poland and Denmark bubble up slightly. Latvia stubbornly refuses to let Russia into the top ten, holding “I Won’t Break” off in eleventh.
