The Red Devils go Pink

Manchester United have launched their new pink away kit for the 2018/19 season.

The kit takes inspiration from the Manchester Evening News’ famous football Pink publication, and is the first pink kit ever released by the club.

The new away strip adopts a pale pink kit template with slightly darker detailing on the sleeves.

The Adidas logo is black while the club crest has also undergone a monochrome makeover to ensure it stands out on the new design.

United teased the release of their new kit on the cover of the matchday programme ahead of their Premier League encounter vs Tottenham, which Jose Mourinho’s side lost 3-0 at Old Trafford.

It was worn for the first time at Turf Moor against Burnley.

A wrap-around covered the United Review programme with the headline of ‘The Pink is back!’.

The Pink was a Saturday evening results newspaper published by the MEN.

The publication was originally named the Green ‘Un, but when the Evening News was merged with the Manchester Chronicle in 1963, the MEN used the other title’s pink version due to its higher number of sales.
