Theresa May’s spokesperson has called comments by Donald Trump about Democratic congresswomen from black and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds “completely unacceptable”.
The US president was criticised over a series of tweets in which he said female liberal politicians should “go back and help fix” their “broken and crime infested countries”.
Mr Trump did not name the congresswomen but appeared to refer to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
