Three die, two missing after fireworks factory explosion near Messina, Sicily

At least three people are dead and two are missing after a fireworks factory blast near Messina, in Sicily.

One of the victims is Venera Mazzeo, 71, and was the owner’s wife.

Two quick successive explosions, were heard up to the neighboring municipality of Milazzo, causing panic. The causes of the explosion which occurred in the pyrotechnic factory of Vito Costa and his sons, are still to be ascertained.

Bartolomeo Costa, 37 years old, son of the owner of the fireworks factory and Antonio Bagnato, were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

The workers who were inside the factory had to assemble some iron doors and worked for a company in Milazzo.
