Three Norwegian brothers arrested over US embassy blast in Oslo

Three Norwegian brothers have been arrested in connection with a suspected “terrorist bombing” outside the US embassy in Oslo over the weekend. The blast caused minor damage but no injuries.

Police prosecutor Christian Hatlo told reporters that the suspects, Norwegian citizens of Iraqi descent in their 20s with no prior criminal record, were being questioned as authorities investigate their motive.

“We are exploring several lines of inquiry, including whether this attack was directed by a state actor,” Hatlo said, noting the high-profile target and current global security concerns.

He added that investigators aim to determine each brother’s role. “We believe one placed the bomb, while the other two were complicit,” Hatlo said, adding that connections to criminal networks have not been ruled out.
