L-Orizzont lead story refers to comments by the Malta Tourism Authority Executive Chairman Gavin Gulia about the expectations for tourism this summer. The report states that this summer Malta is expected to be a very busy one. He also highlights the increase of 18.1% in the tourism which Malta has experienced and defines it as significant. In another story L-Orizzont refers to the unveiling of Mintoff’s monumnet which took place on Thursday evening. The third story of L-Orizzont focuses on the talks between the government and the Independent School’s Association, which now has been going on since February. On its backpage, the newspaper carries a international news item related to the visit by a senior North Korean official to the States to discuss the summit between USA and North Korea.
In-Nazzjon leads with a story about the Nationalist Party leader who claimed that the Government is only basing the country’s economy on investment coming through dirty money. The report says that the PN wants ‘clean’ investment which creates ‘work’.

The Independent, like The Times carries a story that Chris Cardona’s FKK Acapulco libel cases got cancelled. he move, by Daphne Caruana Galizia’s lawyer, brought to an unexpected end the proceedings which were expected to reveal details, call logs and mobile data to prove or disprove the allega- tions by the slain journalist that the minister was actually there. Magistrate Francesco De- pasquale upheld a request by lawyer Joseph Zammit Maempel, representing the Caruana Galizia heirs, for the ‘liberatorja’. In layman’s terms, this is a pro- cedure whereby the failure of the plaintiff (in this case Dr Car- dona) to turn up for his lawsuit, may prompt the defendant to ask for the cancellation of the case from the list.
The Independent carries a photo story about the dismantling of Delimara Power Station chimney, while The Times carries a photo story showing ‘a thrill seeker using the power of propulsion to find some respite from the hot weather’.
