Trump promotes major investment projects on campaign trail despite uncertainty

US President Donald Trump has highlighted billions of dollars in proposed factories, energy projects and job creation as evidence that his economic policies are delivering results, but several initiatives remain uncertain or years away from completion, according to a Reuters review.
As Republicans campaign in competitive races ahead of November’s elections, Trump has repeatedly pointed to projects across the country to promote his administration’s economic record.
Among the developments he has highlighted are a liquefied natural gas pipeline in Alaska, a planned steel mill in Iowa, a power plant in Texas, a pharmaceutical project in Kentucky and a quartz mine in North Carolina.
However, the status of several projects remains unclear, raising questions about when they will generate the promised investment and employment benefits.
South Korea has said no final decision has been reached on the scale of its participation in the proposed Alaska energy project. Meanwhile, financing and construction schedules for the Texas power plant remain unsettled.
The projects have featured prominently in Trump’s campaign appearances, where he has linked some of his economic pledges directly to Republican electoral victories. Their uncertain timelines, however, mean the anticipated economic benefits may not materialise for years.
