UK death toll goes past 11,000 mark despite second consecutive drop

The United Kingdom has gone past the 11,000 death mark after 667 persons were announced dead by the Department of Health today. These deaths included 40 people who appeared to have no other health conditions.

This amount however did represent a second consecutive drop. Deaths had peaked at 917 on Saturday, followed by another 710 yesterday.  These numbers are however taken with the necessary caution by the health authorities as many deaths occurring during weekends generally take longer to be reported.

Total infections in the country have now approached 90,000. Government has until Thursday to announce its decision relation to an extension of the current lockdown, a decision which at this point appears to be inevitable.
