Ukraine fires US long-range missiles at Russia, Moscow says

Russia’s defence ministry says Ukraine has hit Russia with ATACMS missiles supplied by the US, Russian state media reported.

RIA Novosti cited the ministry as saying Ukrainian troops launched six ATACMS missiles at night on a target in the Bryansk region.

It said air defence systems crew shot down five shells and managed to damage another one, but that missile fragments fell on the technical territory of the military facility, causing a fire.

The news agency cited the ministry as saying the missiles caused no casualties or damage.

It comes after the Kremlin warned earlier today that Ukraine’s use of Western-supplied missiles against Russia could trigger a nuclear response under the new doctrine approved by Vladimir Putin this morning.

he announcement comes shortly after Washington lifted restrictions on Ukraine using U.S.-made longer-range missiles to strike Russia.

Ukraine didn’t immediately confirm the use of ATACMs in a strike on Russia’s Bryansk region.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ukraine’s General Staff said that Ukrainian army carried out a strike on the arsenal of the 1046th Logistics Support Center in the area of Karachev in Bryansk region of Russia.

The General Staff said that multiple explosions and detonation were heard in the targeted area.

“The destruction of ammunition depots for the Russian occupying forces, aimed at ending Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, will continue,” the statement said.
