The Prefecture of the Papal Household announced that Holy Week celebrations in Rome will take place without the physical presence of the faithful, in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The prefecture, on its website, announced that, “because of the current global public health emergency, all the Liturgical Celebrations of Holy Week will take place without the physical presence of the faithful.
Furthermore, this Prefecture informs that until April 12 the General Audiences and the Angelus presided over by the Holy Father will be available only in live streaming on the official Vatican News website”.
Earlier, Pope Francis invited the people to unite ourselves to Christ and one another in the spiritual communion of the Eucharist, as more governments encourage citizens to stay at home to fight the spread of Covid-19.
