Watch – Etna volcano eruption

The Etna volcano in Sicily, on Sunday started erupting mainly on what is known as the new South East crater, causing among other things lava flows and tremors.

Reports indicated there is the presence of two modest summit lava flows from the New Southeast Crater, which are currently confined on the high eastern and southern flank of the volcano”

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etneo Observatory, said that “the monitoring networks recorded, at 08:36 (06:36 UTC), a Strombolian activity (which subsequently took on the characteristics of a small pulsating lava fountain).

Furthermore, from the network of surveillance cameras, it is possible to observe, in correspondence with the activity at the New Southeast Crater, a thermal anomaly attributable to a Strombolian activity (and a low lava fountain).

The activity is accompanied by intense degassing.
