Watch – Top Gun sequels new trailer

The new trailer for the Top Gun sequel has been released with Tom Cruise reprising his role as US fighter pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell more than 30 years after the original hit movie, Sky News reports.

According to the report, the new trailer shows Pete Mitchell’s new role. While in the 1986 film, Cruise’s character was sent to a training school to sharpen his skills after defying orders, in the 2020 follow-up, he is training a new generation of fighter pilots.

A synopsis with the trailer says: “Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.”

Sky News adds, that in the new film, Maverick trains the graduates for a specialist mission “the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen”. He encounters Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw, played by Whiplash star Miles Teller. Bradshaw has the call sign Rooster and is the son of Maverick’s late friend and radar intercept officer Lieutenant Nick Bradshaw, aka Goose.
